What we collect: your name, email address and password (stored as a secure hash); the profile details, CVs and application answers you choose to provide; messages between you and employers; and records of the status of each application.
Why we use it: to run your account and the job board; to send your applications to the employers you apply to; to keep you informed about your applications; to send job alerts you ask for; and to keep the service secure.
Who sees it: an employer or recruitment agency sees the details you submit when you apply for one of their jobs. Your profile is only visible to recruiters in search if you switch that on.
Jobs market statistics and market insights: we produce statistics about the jobs market, and about what candidates earn and are looking for, from records with names and contact details removed. Published figures never describe fewer than 10 jobs or 10 people. See Market insights below.

Your rights: you can download your data or delete your account at any time from your privacy centre, and you can contact us through the contact page. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Market insights
What we collect. In your profile you can tell us about your current or most recent job: role, level, pay, where you are based, work pattern, contract, hours, sectors, the type and size of employer, contract side, project value, experience and the employer's name. You can also tell us about the job you are looking for: roles, levels, pay, places, work patterns, contracts, hours, sectors, employer types, notice period and whether you would relocate. When you apply for a job, we keep a copy of that job's details, and of these answers, as they were when you applied.
What you must give. Your current role, level, years of experience and where you live are needed before you can apply. Everything else here is optional, and leaving it blank never stops you applying.
Who sees it. Employers you apply to see what you are looking for and, from your current or most recent job, your role, level, years of experience, where you live, work pattern, contract, hours, IR35 status, sectors and whether you are employed directly or through an agency. They only see your current pay if you turn on “Show my current salary to employers I apply to” in your privacy settings. Employers never see your employer's name, type, size, contract side or project value, or the year you started there. We use your employer's name only to ask you to confirm before you apply to one of that employer's jobs.
How we use it. We compare what people earn now, what they are looking for and what the jobs they apply for offer, to understand pay and demand for quantity surveying and commercial roles. For this we replace your name and account with a code, and leave out your contact details, CV, messages and employer's name. Anything we publish is a total or an average for a group of at least 10 people, so no one can be picked out. We only include you in published figures if you turn on “Help improve salary and market insight”.
How to remove it. Clear the answers in your profile and save: they are deleted straight away. The copies made when you applied stay with that application for as long as the application is kept. Deleting your account deletes all of it, including your applications.
Website analytics
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to count visitors and see which pages are used, so we can improve the site. We only do this with your consent, and nothing is sent to Google Analytics until you accept.
Google processes this information for us, under Google's data processing terms. We have turned off Google's advertising features and Google signals. Signed-in pages and application pages are not measured, and we remove postcodes and other personal details from search addresses before anything is sent. Google Analytics does not store your IP address.
Google Analytics keeps this information for 14 months.
You can change your mind at any time: open cookie settings and choose Reject. We then stop sending information and remove the Google Analytics cookies from your browser. See the cookie notice for details.
