Most earn between £32,000 and £75,000. The gap between the two is the one worth knowing about: it is mostly experience, sector and where the work is, and it is why a figure quoted without a level attached tells you very little.

By region

Only where the survey had enough responses to publish a figure. Quantity Surveyor is a small occupation, so most regions are not shown, and a missing region is missing data rather than low pay.

What these figures do and do not tell you

  • They are gross annual pay before tax, and they do not include a car allowance, a bonus, a pension above the minimum, or overtime.
  • They cover everyone ONS classes as quantity surveyors, at every level from a first job to a director. That is why the range is so wide.
  • They are a survey of employees, so they say nothing about day rates for contract work.
  • They are 2025 provisional figures, published once a year, so they lag a fast-moving market.
