Why these and not a salary guide
Most published salary guides are drawn from one recruiter’s own placements, which is a small and self-selecting slice of the market, and they are written partly to advertise. These come from the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings, which is taken from PAYE records across the whole economy and is the figure the government itself uses.
The trade-off is that it is broad. ONS counts every quantity surveyor together, from a first job to a director, so the range is wide and there is no split by level. Read it as the shape of the profession rather than the going rate for one particular job.
